Through the thick foliage the dark and muddy road winds its way. It leads

of recent usage. Many mouldering tree-trunks have fallen across the road and
the spreading foliage on the roadsides has narrowed it, making passage even
more difficult. The forest is strangely silent, only the occasional cry or
cackle can be heard.

possible using the narrow swinging paths that animals have created. The ever
present darkness makes this a lot harder and thorny braches of trees and
bushes get stuck in the clothing of travellers. Travelling through this
forest can make one to envy birds.

The forest is dark here under the huge trees. They reach for the skies,
each trying to get more light than the others, branches and leaves filling
every free spot and in the process leaving the ground in utter darkness. Most
of the ground between trees is used by strange black leaveless bushes. It is
hard to tell if they have died of the lack of light or are they actually still
growing.

probably a small stream that cut through the forest, but the source of the

Huge trees grow here, in the darkness of this part of the forest. One
particulary large tree grows to the east. It is collossal, blocking the
passage there. It is tough leaning steeply, so it might be possible to climb.
The branches of surrounding trees block the sky, but the tree penetrates the
roof. Happy birds can be heard singing from the top of the tree, but down
here, primal animal shrieks are more common.

It is unnaturally silent for a forest. Huge dark trees grow next to each
other, their lower branches dead and leaveless. The treetops are so far away
that the wind rustling in their branches can hardly be heard. No light reaches
the ground. Several narrow trails lead through the trees, but to the east huge
spiderwebs are cast between trees.

The trees grow very tightly in this part of Mirkwood. Some tiny paths
wandering through the forest make it just barely possible for larger creatures
to move around. The paths lead in every direction except to the east where
trees seem to be covered with web fragments and some weird critting sounds can
be heard occasionally.

The road turns smoothly around a large group of rocks and boulders that lie
west of the road. An old disused road leads both west and south, smaller
animal trails lead off the road into forest in all directions. While the road
is broken and hard to walk along the forest seems even worse.

Deep cries of power and smaller cries of anguish are the most common as the
animals fight one another in the constant battle for survival.

This narrow road finds its way through the forest. Bending and twisting it
somehow manages to avoid all the trees. Though one might think otherwise, the
path seems to have been traveled, by people stupid enough to use wagons. The
evidence to this are some wagon weels and other parts of wagons, which can be
seen on and off the road, of wagons, which couldn't stand the bumpy road.

The shaded path, stamped down from the feet of passerbys, is blazing its
way through the ancient trees. The trees above envelope all, creating shadows
and a seemingly perfect blackness. The ground lifts upwards to the south
reaching higher greeted by a great number of trees.The path huffs its way
through the forest to the east and north where it bends further into more
trees.

The forest here is engulfed in blackness and shadow, any light seems to be
consumed to a ravenous beast of darkness. The tighly packed ground supports
small rocks that cling to it tightly. The forest seems to extend in all
directions but to the north and east a faint, barely recognizable trail falls
in the forest. The rough undergrowth impedes movement but barely. This
undergrowth continues to thicken to the south as the ground takes on a tilt.

Dark Forest Heightens Exits are: N E S W
The trees are silent and whisper not a word. The darkness covering the
forest floor and the lack of a strong wind make the forest mute and somehow
even peaceful. The ground is littered with medium and gravel stones that
seemingly throw themselves into a passerby's path. The trees seem to thin a
bit but their canopies still cover the surface in mysterious shadows. The
trees thin to the west and a small drop-off is seen where a path is laid. The
trees reach out to the east, south, and north where the ground seems to follow
an incline north and south from high to low.

A fairly large boulder stands here, ready to tumble down the nearby cliffs
to the west and south. It is fairly obvious that this large rock was not put
here by nature by the arrangement of stones beneath it. The rock was probably
intended to impede or crush something below. The leaves of trees above veil
the area in secrecy and shadow. The cliff extends to the east and the forest

continues to the north where it follows a slight incline downward. The slopes
of the cliff here would allow one to scramble downward, but a climb back up
would be near impossible without special help.

The Ridges on either side of the path overshadow the narrow trail through
the wilderness. The canopies of the sinister looking trees enshroud the area
in a eerie darkness. The rocky face of the overhanging cliffs is dark and
very rough to the touch. These cliffs must have pushed themselves out from
deep within the soil. The path extends darkly to east and west, although a
slight bend detected darting around a rock face.

On A Shaded Path Exits are: E W
The shadowed path here darts about from tree to tree, pummeled by small
ruts and pits in its surface. It looks as if the path will soon be overcome
by the undergrowth and disuse. The scent of dew and slight ashen scent are in
the air. The rough hewn edge of the high rock ridges on either side of the
road seem to enclose upon the road. The path continues from east to west
along its hardened print between the the sheer cliffs. The trees on the
higher ridge bathe the path in darkness.

A large, windy path sprawls out across the land. It leads as far as the
eye can see to the south, and wild shrubs and undergrowth have been removed
from exsistance. To the east, a dark forest rules the land, while animals of
some dark lord rustle about in the slim trees and thick undergrowth.

The dark forest continues here, and seems to take the form of a trail to
the east. The trail is overhung with many ageless trees, making light scarce.
The north and south of this trail are bordered by thick trees and undergrowth,
and is definently impassable. There is a placid air here, and walking any
further seems almost difficult.

The dark forest recedes here, and the canopy of the trees is filled with a
pale, grey light. Thick trees to the north and south still hinder all vision
and travel. The trail seems to have been trodden recently by someone, or
something. The trail still winds on as far as the eye can see.

At this point, the small trail bends southwards. A cool, pleasant air is
mingling with the trees to the north and east. There is still a faint light
coming from above, just enough to keep the path lit. Footprints can clearly
be seen in the mud, and small creatures scurry through the trees.

The trail bends again heading east on its previous direction. Limbs of
trees sway in the breeze, and it seems as if you've left Mirkwood altogether.
The air is plesant, and the sun cannot rage across the land, leaving the
perfect amount of light. This place is pleasant to the senses, and many
animals are drawn here which can be seen playing in the trees and bushes.

The trail has again become a straight path, and is easily trodden. You can
see farther in the distance, to the east and west, and they seem as if only a
giant replication of the trail you walk on now. Birds sing in the trees, and
leaves cover the ground. Colorful flowers spring up beside the path, making
this place a pleasant sight.

On and on the trail runs through the trees. The cool breeze refreshes you
as it blows through unprotected parts in the cover of branches. The trail is
old, and is not well kept, but the wild growth and small animals make it the
perfect place to rest and enjoy the view. Many a traveller has passed on this
trail, and enjoyed the splendid sight that you are seeing, whether the aroma
of the flowers, or the playing of the animals suits you best.

All good things must come to an end they say, and so it is a prime example
here. The beauty of the trail again begins to fade, the squirrels and birds
are beggining to clear out along with the flowers and bushes. The luxurious
trail now becomes muddy, and harder to walk on, the canopy is recessing, and
to the east, the trail winds north.

Animals play in the underbrush, without a care, patiently waiting for anything

The path bends northwards again here, skirting a thick, tangled
mass of trees to the east and rising well above the floor of a ravine below.
Here a small passage through the thinner areas of the trees exists, permitting

A Steep Climb in the Warpath Exits are: S U
The shaded path climbs again here, as it rises up out of the ravine that
encloses it farther to the south. Here as elsewhere, high above can be seen
the overhanging boughs of trees that blot out the sun. The climb is steep,
but flat and passable even for several horses abreast.

A Straight Run in the Path Exits are: N S
Winding its way through the bottom of the ravine, the path remains broad
and clear, as if maintained by persons lately present. Here and there can be
seen large, booted footprints and stones that must surely have fallen and been
moved to keep the way clearer.

The road bends from west to north, winding along the bottom of a ravine
here as it runs from the southern reaches of the forest eventually to meet the
old forest road. Small notches can be seen, carved in the face of the ravine
wall by nature, many large enough to admit a full-grown horse.

The path runs clear, east and west here as it sprawls across the floor of

The ravine that is home to the shaded warpath deepens here the farther
north one chooses to travel. At the bottom no water can be seen, suggesting
that perhaps some other force carved this great cut into the forest floor.
The constant halflight makes shadows jump and the walls seem almost alive.

The shaded path begins to descend even more, but gently as it runs farther
to the north. No sign of water or erosion can be seen on the surface of the
road, indicating that either little rain falls here, or the passage is
intentionally maintained by someone. even the walls of the ravine are free of
loose material that might at some point block passage.

The path here descends from high ground to the west to follow the floor of
a deep cut that forms a long and winding ravine through the forest. The
ravine is clear and free from falling stones or slides of earth, strange for
such a place in the wilds of the great Mirkwood forest.

The path continues east and west here, descending to the east to follow the
floor of a ravine in the forest floor. Along either side of the path large
boulders loom up, as if pushed out of the way by whatever force caused this
way to be made. Tall enough to block vision farther south, these boulders are
spaced enough to allow one to travel beyond.

The trail runs through a patch of large boulders here, dodging left and
right as the massive crop up out of the ground. Small pools of water lay at
the bases of many of the stones, but most appear to have filthy scum on the
surfaces, making them undrinkable for most creatures.

Tall elms grow here. shutting out light that might otherwise have allowed
more growth on the forest floor. The shaded path runs true north and south

invisible sun. The bark that covers them is dark and pitted, yet bears a
strange shine as if worn by years of exposure to the elements. The warpath

Something about this forest appears odd, as the trees appear a bit
frightened of something, of some unseen force. A small pond of water is here,

This forest is one of the oldest surviving forests in Arda, with massive
trees and ancient creatures all around. The canopy is thick, producing

This part of the forest is typical for most woodland: trees, rocks, moss,
and the occasional animal running about. The trees completely block out all
sun light, creating a very dark place. A tiny beam of light can be seen
through the trees during the day, while more forest is seen in all directions.

The thickness of the trees that surround this part of Mirkwood are
unbelievable. Covering the trees with sticky and poisonous substances, alot of
fungi and dark moss has begun to live off of these dark towers. It seems as

The forest is covered with many trees that tower into the heavens above,
creating a thick canopy that barriers any sunlight from entering this dense
area. Many limbs hang in the trees, homing many small creatures and birds. The

and tower into the heavenly skies above, creating a thick barrier as a forest
