The official website for Return of the Shadow MUD has been changed from the fan-operated community site RotSMUD.org to here. We are in the process of constructing a new and more dedicated RotS webpage to service our community of players.

The completion of Vinyanost marks the beginning of a large and long term plan for the development of RotS. Geared extensively towards unexperienced players, the city provides a new and exciting environment for those wishing to learn how to play RotS.

After long years without a strong, Implementor-led upper management, Azriya has been promoted and given the reigns of the MUD. Due to his new leadership initiative, we can all look forward to new and exciting developments in the near future.

The rots.org machine was disconnected from the network due to reorganizations within MIT. Unforunately, MIT did not notify the RotS administrators and the problem went undetected for longer than usual. As of now, the problem has been resolved and the MUD is back up and running.

Our new IP address is 18.98.3.14. Note that this IP address may change; however, next time it will be without drastic downtime.

The complete manual and help files have been converted to HTML and are now available on www.rots.us. Please use the online help (either on the MUD or on the web) as your first resource when answering questions.

I've been away for awhile, but am back now, and have managed to add some depth and color the appearance of the site. Keep an eye out for content changes on the horizon.

The Java Applet has been removed due to abuse.

RotS.org has undergone a renovation for Netscape users. The site should now be 100% compatible with Netscape 4.0.

Also, thanks to Matso and Khronos for cranking out a new mythology page full of the stories from our players. Grats to them and keep an eye out for more updates to that page! (Link removed)

A Java telnet client as been integrated after many requests for it.
